Years of Shoeing

At NH Hill Farrier Services, we believe quality horseshoeing is more than just trimming and nailing on a shoe—it’s about understanding the horse, its job, and how proper hoof care impacts long-term soundness and performance.

Nathan Hill started shoeing at a young age on his family’s ranch, learning the fundamentals from his father, who had studied farriery in college. By the time he was 13 or 14, he was shoeing not only his own ranch horses but also those of others in the operation. Over the years, his passion for horses led him into training, where he worked with high-end cutting and reined cow horses, gaining invaluable insight into how movement, performance, and hoof care go hand in hand.

Nathan’s expertise is further enhanced by his wife’s background as a top-level dressage trainer, managing and caring for elite competition horses. Her knowledge and experience bring an added level of expertise as Nathan oversees their barn, ensuring that even the most high-performance horses receive exceptional hoof care.

With a deep understanding of biomechanics and years of hands-on experience, Nathan offers expert farrier services tailored to each horse’s specific needs. From working ranch horses to competitive performance horses, he focuses on achieving optimal soundness, balance, and longevity. His training background allows him to see beyond the foot, ensuring that each horse gets the best possible care.

After years of apprenticing under multiple skilled farriers—including time spent working with a specialist in Arabian show horses—he refined his craft and officially launched **Hill Farrier Services**. Now based in The Treasure Valley of Idaho and traveling to Seattle, WA, and Chicago, IL; Nathan is dedicated to providing professional, reliable horseshoeing services with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to every horse’s well-being.

If you’re looking for a farrier who understands both the art and science of hoof care, get in touch today.
